About Me

Hello! My name is Kenzie, and I’m currently a student at Northern Michigan University (NMU), working toward earning my bachelor’s degree.

I have chosen to major in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management (ORLM), a field that aligns with my passion for the outdoors and leadership in recreational settings.

In addition to my major, I am pursuing two minors—one in Criminal Justice and another in Art & Design. These areas of study allow me to explore different aspects of my interests, from understanding law enforcement and public safety to expressing creativity through artistic design.

I am excited to continue my academic journey and see where this unique combination of studies takes me in the future!

Some of the classes that I found most helpful during my studies included:

  • Conservation Law Enforcement, where I gained a deeper understanding of legal frameworks related to environmental protection.
  • Environmental Conservation Criminology, which explored the intersection of criminal justice and environmental issues.
  • Protected Area Management, where I learned strategies for maintaining and preserving natural landscapes.
  • Outdoor Leadership, which helped me develop essential skills for guiding and managing groups in outdoor settings.
  • Experiential Education, which emphasized hands-on learning techniques that enhance both personal growth and environmental awareness.
  • Wilderness First Responder, this class provided practical skills for managing and treating both minor and severe backcountry injuries, simulating high-stress, no-assistance situations requiring independent field rescue and evacuation decisions.

If you would like to take a more in-depth look at what classes I have taken, you can see them under the academic portfolio tab.
